Mari Quest: Calamity at Mage's Tower
Mari Quest is the first game I've ever made! It was made for My First Game Jam: Winter 2017. Some quirks persist, and the prototype is a little rough around the edges. If you encounter anything game breaking, you can press the "r" key to return to the title screen. You will maintain any progress you have made. Also, Mari's red spell can destroy targets with one hit. Target behavior can be a bit weird at times; I would just leave the room and come back later.
Controls: Arrow keys to move, "z" to jump, "x" to cast magic, and "c" to select your spell.
Special Thanks to Jyzavi, who made the shoe; Liam, who made most of the music (the title screen song is borrowed from Link's Awakening); and BMJ from Stencyl's discord server, who helped me out more than once and let me use a behavior he had developed. You guys rock.

A very playable prototype, especially for your first game! I had some fun with it, and I could see it becoming really awesome if you worked at it.
I did run into a small glitch (couldn't switch to red magic when I got it, I had to restart to be able to do so). Other than that, it was cool.
The music is great but the gameplay is not here.
Thank you for the feedback! I think next time I will try to make something with a smaller scope so I can hone in on the gameplay and stability. I learned a lot while making this, at least!

Oh no! If you get stuck, you can use the "r" key to go back to the title screen (you won't lose any progress).
